Alice Zawadzki, a vocalist & violinist with considerable repute as “a genuine original” teams up with two long-term collaborators – sought-after multi-instrumentalist Fred Thomas and award-winning jazz bass player Misha Mullov-Abbado. Alice is also a songwriter while both Fred and Misha are renowned as composers and arrangers. The empathy and synergy harnessed by them is the result of a decade’s work together. As demonstrated on their acclaimed ECM album ‘Za Górami’, the trio inhabits their own stylistic realm that encompasses Mediterranean folk songs, chamber music and improvisational jazz fused with free flowing interplay and fluid structures to meld a mesmerizing sound.
“A ‘supergroup’ trio… of mesmerising intensity” – London Jazz News
“An exquisite recording that penetrates a little deeper with every listen” – Jazzwise (Editor’s Choice)

Alice Zawadzki trained in jazz singing and composition as well as having completed studies in classical violin at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her musical background draws upon her early exposure to New Orleans jazz and gospel, the extensive classical training as a violinist, and a continuous exploration of improvisation, poetry and folk music from diverse traditions. She was nominated for Singer of the Year from the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2024. https://www.alicezmusic.com/

“…all propelled in a voice of velvet suppleness and gutsy emotional power” – The Arts Desk
ECM recording artist Fred Thomas is one of London’s most sought after multi-instrumentalists and composer/arrangers, known for his breadth of musical styles. He studied jazz piano and composition at the Royal Academy of Music where he developed an interest in rhythmic cultures from Africa and Latin America, free improvisation, contemporary classical, improvised counterpoint and Baroque music. He works regularly as Musical Director with the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe and teaches at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

Misha Mullov-Abbado is a Royal Academy graduate with three critically acclaimed albums on Edition Records under his name – ‘Dream Circus’ (produced by fellow bassist and bandleader Jasper Høiby), ‘Cross-Platform Interchange’ and hid debut ‘New Ansonia’, the latter having been included in “Best Jazz Albums 2015” of The Telegraph and BBC Radio 3. His most recent offering ‘Effra’ “showcases his ‘melodic gift” (John Fordham, The Guardian) and ability to masterfully combine beautifully-crafted compositions with free-spirited improvisation. https://www.mishamullovabbado.com/
