Vibraphonist, composer and winner of the prestigious Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize, Jonny Mansfield is regarded as one of the UK’s outstanding young jazz talents as his performance with Empirical at their Crucible concert in 2024 demonstrated. His band features Tom Cawley, a former Young Jazz Musician of the Year recognized for his mature playing and fluent technique whose own trio ‘Curios’ garnered a string of awards and plaudits including Best Band at the BBC Jazz Awards. They are supported by the impressive Will Sach, a New Yorker now based in London and rising star Luke McCarthy. Expect superb musicianship, exhilarating collective interplay and dazzling solos.

Huddersfield born Jonny Mansfield has worked with the likes of Chris Potter, Nikki Iles, Stan Sulzmann, Kit Downes, Jim Hart and Ivo Neame. Nominated for an Ivor Novello and a Parliamentary Jazz Award he has been involved in projects such as Byron Wallen’s ‘Hurricane Bells,’ performances with Emma Rawicz and collaboration with Empirical for their recent album & tour with Jason Rebello. In 2019 Jonny released his debut album with his 11-piece ensemble Elftet. He launched the label Resonant Postcards under which he released his second album ‘The Air in Front of You’ and his most recent ‘Quartet! Live At Pizza Express’, which both received 4* reviews.
