Corrie Dick leads his own group of top young jazz musicians who will be playing music from his acclaimed new album ‘Sun Swells’. An essential component of any project led by Laura Jurd, notably Mercury Prize shortlisted band Dinosaur, Corrie is a musician and composer who specialises in euphoric, sonically-inventive drumming. He is lauded for his dynamism and for his playfully subversive take on style and genre. Expect music which exemplifies his creativity and his uniquely fresh approach to blending folk, jazz, rock and world music influences.

Corrie Dick is an alumnus of both Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. He has studied traditional music in several African countries and his home land, Scotland and been mentored by the likes of Mark Guiliana and Kendrick Scott. He plays with Jasper Høiby’s Fellow Creatures and Rob Luft’s band. His 2015 release ‘Impossible Things’ fused Celtic folk and contemporary jazz with new takes on African rhythms. For ‘Sun Swells’, released in 2022 Corrie says he wanted to write a jazz album that had rock instrumentation at its core: guitar-bass-drums. “Dick is a thoughtful, responsive drummer …and there’s a strong sense of melody as well as a growing individuality in his compositions” – Rob Adams, The Herald  www.corriedick.com/

Laura Jurd’s distinct voice as an improvising trumpet player can be heard in a wide variety of ensembles. She regularly performs throughout Europe and beyond with her Mercury-nominated band Dinosaur and can be heard playing alongside London jazz band Kansas Smitty’s and leading a number of exciting projects in UK jazz and improvised music. “Simply stupendous … a glorious, shifting collage of sound” – BBC Music Magazine http://www.laurajurd.com/

Award-winning guitarist Rob Luft has been compared to six-string legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia. Rob leads his own quintet and is part of numerous other bands. His debut album ‘Riser’ received widespread critical acclaim and his latest, ‘Dahab Days’, received numerous 4* reviews. “The whole album is a thrilling voyage of discovery” – Jazzwise review of ‘Dahab Days’ https://robluft.co.uk/

Swiss-Albanian singer Elina Duni has made several albums on the ECM label. Her most recent album ‘A Time to Remember’ features long-time musical partner Rob Luft on guitar with whom she co-wrote five of the 12 songs. https://elinaduni.com/  “few contemporary jazz-influenced singers manage to sound so intensely like themselves while drawing on such a variety of genres, languages, and cultural backstories as the Albania-born vocalist Elina Duni” – John Fordham, The Guardian

Norman Willmore originally hails from Shetland. He effortlessly blends jazz with traditional Scottish, Scandinavian and Appalachian folk music, invoking the landscape of Scotland. He has twice been nominated for the ‘Rising Star’ Scottish Jazz award.

Calum Gourlay is known for his deep warm tone, controlled execution as both a supporter and improviser and rock-solid time and pulse. Calum has become a mainstay on the London jazz scene, performing with Kit Downes, Tommy Smith, Will Vinson and he also writes for his own big band. www.calumgourlay.net
