Award winning saxophonist Nadim Teimoori returns to Sheffield Jazz, this time with his own band of top British musicians. Following his outstanding performances at Crookes last year, particularly as a soloist, with the Doncaster Jazz Orchestra and the Rory Ingham/James Davison Art Blakey homage band, it’s a pleasure to be welcoming him back as bandleader. Originally from Doncaster, Nadim has established himself as regular sideman and bandleader performing at top venues on the UK jazz circuit, with the likes of Stan Tracey, Julian Joseph, Jamie Cullum and Iain Ballamy. Expect exhilarating playing from this gifted saxophonist.

“Nadim’s voice on the tenor is thoughtful, melodic, harmonically advanced and creative” – Chris Potter

Since graduating from the Royal College of Music and winning the prestigious Humphrey Lyttelton Award, Nadim Teimoori has been a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex and at the 606. He is widely credited for his sensitive, inventive compositions and recognised as a master of established forms within the jazz canon.

“The tenor saxophone solo … by Nadim Teimoori is out of this world” – Dave Gelly, The Guardian
“Plays with a maturity way beyond his years”…. – Alyn Shipton, BBC Radio 3
“Teimoori’s…sax solo is…exhilarating and beautifully constructed” – London Jazz News

Will Barry is a Royal Academy graduate and was winner of the Musicians’ Company Jazz Young Musician Award in 2017. He has played with UK jazz greats including Mark Lockheart, Stan Sulzmann, Clark Tracey and Jean Toussaint and is part of numerous projects, notably Phronesis bassist Jasper Høiby’s group ‘Fellow Creatures’. Whilst living in Spain Will appeared with numerous Spanish and Cuban musicians and recorded at the Berklee College campus in Valencia.

“…sensitive and fluid – a beautiful sound”… – Chucho Valdés

Sam Dunn is a regular performer at jazz clubs who has toured nationally with Jon Shenoy’s ‘Draw by Four,’ as well as Perpetual Motion Machine and his own quartet Teduloca. Sam has performed with US pianist Judy Carmichael, with whom he toured Australia in 2014, and with Alan Barnes, Dave Newton, Michael Garrick and many more. He also plays with singer-songwriter Nina Clark in her Alpha band.
