Multi award-winning pianist Ivo Neame leads his trio, featuring two of the finest UK-based jazz instrumentalists, playing music from his latest album ‘Zettalogue’. Ivo is one of a handful of musician/composers who are redefining the sound of British jazz with compositions that have an esoteric and highly original voice. His music is characterised by a stunning mix of virtuosity, sophistication and playfulness and his performances are known for their dynamic energy and emotional depth. All three musicians have strong, individual voices and are given space to make their mark on the music with a sound built on dynamic group interplay.
‘Zettalogue’ is another album to add to the best UK jazz albums of the year list” – 4* review, marlbank.net
Ivo Neame is best known for his work with the Marius Neset Quintet and Phronesis, the trio who won Jazz Ensemble of 2017 in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and whose album ‘Alive’ was recognized by both Jazzwise and MOJO magazines as Album of the Year. He has collaborated with numerous other artists, including Hermeto Pascoal, Kenny Wheeler and Gilad Hekselman. His acclaimed 12 piece band Dodeka’s gig in 2023 at Crookes was a recent highlight and Ivo was a member of Emma Rawicz’s quartet at the Sheffield Jazz 50th anniversary concert. Other awards and honours include; Best Jazz Act 2011, MOBO Awards (Kairos Quartet); UK Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year 2012 (nominated) Jazz FM Awards; Jazz Ensemble of the Year 2017, Jazz Composition for Large Ensemble 2021 (nominated) IVORS Composer Awards. https://www.ivoneame.com/

“Neame’s work is off-beat, complex, immersive, kaleidoscopic and often bracingly polyrhythmic” – All About Jazz
Tom Farmer is a member of the award-winning quartet ‘Empirical’ and many other diverse ensembles and projects. With Empirical, he won multiple awards including ‘MOBO Best Jazz Act 2010’ – they have toured extensively in UK, Europe and North America. James Maddren is one of the most in-demand drummers in Europe performing regularly with artists such as Jacob Collier, Wynton Marsalis and Seamus Blake. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2009 with a 1st class degree and ‘The Principal’s Award for Outstanding Studentship’. He has recorded for ECM records as a member of the trio ‘Enemy’ and with such distinguished musicians as Matthew Bordenave and Florian Weber.
“His playing is melodic, he has extraordinary control of his sound and how it can be gradated. He has that look of not being preoccupied with the music, but completely focused on how to make music out of something whether it’s
familiar or unfamiliar” – London Jazz News
