Award winning pianist Fergus McCreadie, one of the most exciting jazz musicians on the world stage, returns to Sheffield for a solo performance after three highly successful gigs with his trio. Fergus is an improviser of exceptional ability and a composer of elegant, nuanced and uplifting music that captures the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide. Citing Keith Jarrett as his greatest inspiration, his music is a unique blend of Jazz and Scottish folk inspired by his country’s sublime landscapes that while honouring the American and Nordic jazz legacies, has an appeal that extends far beyond the constraints of genre.
A graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a 2018 BBC Jazz Musician of the Year finalist, Fergus McCreadie has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Peter Wittingham Jazz Award with his trio. His trio’s debut album ‘Turas’ sparked a wave of interest from global promoters and industry awards, The band’s second ‘and third albums, ‘Cairn’ and ‘Forest Floor’ were received with even more widespread enthusiasm, earning many four and five star reviews with the latter also being nominated for the Mercury Prize.
