More about the band -
Dave Hassell is a renowned drummer and percussionist, and expert authority on Latin American music. In 1984 he formed the stunning eleven piece Apitos, recognised as one of the leading Latin jazz ensembles in the UK. With one of the most eclectic musical CVs in the country, Dave has developed this exciting ensemble to stand out as a group that merges the rhythms and approaches of Latin American with jazz and improvised forms.
Showcasing many of the leading players in their field from the North West and beyond, it is sure to be an evening not to be missed. Material is drawn from Apitos’ vast library, accumulated over the last 29 years, with special focus on the dynamic arrangements of the late Phil Chapman. In addition there will be arrangements from the recent ‘Made in Manchester’ project.
“A good time will be had by all”.
